about

94min of music composed from loops saved during a week of practice leading up a to a show and loops saved during the show at the Whistler on June 7th 2015. This show was part of the Glad Cloud Ambient series. The focus of the night is to not be the focus. People will hear but not be distracted. Still able to carry on gentle conversation. So i really focused on slow movement, and layers. Letting the loops of various lengths continually interact with each other. Constantly finding new intersection points.

The set itself was about 45min that night. I was given an hour but I never want to overstay my welcome. I enjoyed the tone this setup produced and decided I would see how long of a mix I could pull from it. Maybe this is too long.

Due to bandcamp file limits I had to split this track into 2 parts.

"Cinchel’s foray into ambient music is exceptional in that is follows what Brian Eno said some 25 years ago, “Ambient Music must be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without enforcing one in particular; it must be as ignorable as it is interesting.” - Acts of Silence www.actsofsilence.com/album-review/cinchel-not-knowing-what-to-say/

My main focus has been the interaction of sounds/notes with themselves. With only the use of delay, layering and distortion I attempt to make a lot of guitars no longer sound like guitars.I like to call this minimal dense music for that reason. ... more
