about

This release commemorates the 1̶0̶ 12 year anniversary of the first cassette that i ever made. That cassette was drone.dump ( cinchel.bandcamp.com/album/drone-dump ) and was released by my friend Nicholas Zettel. it was 60min of mostly resonant guitar feedback that i recorded in the closet of the apartment i lived in at the time.

For this anniversary i wanted to revisit that idea but do it bigger and better. so in Jan 2020 i loaded 4 amps and guitars into ESS. Each guitar was tuned to an open tuning, placed on an amp and was connected to a delay pedal. I placed 3 e-bows inside the piano that was treated to have the sustain pedal fully depressed for the duration. i then proceeded to bow, pluck and strike the strings of the guitars and let delay signals amplify and vibrate each of the guitars. I recorded 3 variations which are all available here. Variations #2 & #3 are on sides A & B of the cassette.

This release is also an homage to all the friends i've made through playing and releasing music these past 1̶0̶ 12 years.

REVIEWS:

"I truly enjoyed this. There’s something magical about this particular type of drone music that offers a warmth you don’t really get from other genres. I’d highly recommend this tape. It’s a deep ride" --- turning to obscure tuningintoobscure.wordpress.com/2022/04/21/cinchel-10-becomes-a-dozen/

about

cinchel Chicago, Illinois

I am a Chicago based musician working with guitar, effects and laptop to create abstract ambient music that is both minimal and dense. My main focus has been the interaction of sounds/notes with themselves. With only the use of delay, layering and distortion I attempt to make a lot of guitars no longer sound like guitars.I like to call this minimal dense music for that reason. ... more
